Southern Cross-Island Highway Tianchi

Southern Cross-Island Highway Tianchi is located on the Southern Cross-Island Highway in Taoyuan District, at approximately the 135-kilometer mark. This Tianchi, at an elevation of 2200 meters, is situated behind Changqing Temple (Evergreen Shrine). It is a high-mountain lake, about 2 meters deep, and never dries up throughout the year. Due to its heart-like shape, it is known as Xinhu (Heart Lake) and is also referred to as the 'Heart of the High Mountains.' Because of its high elevation, it is often enveloped in clouds and mist, resembling a heavenly pond. The lake water remains clear and emerald green year-round. Looking down from the arrow bamboo grass slopes, it appears like a clear mirror, reflecting the lush mountain forest scenery.
