Sanhe Tribe

Sanhe Tribe is located on Pingtung County Road 37 in Majia Township, Pingtung. In the 32nd year of the Republic (1943), Pastor George I. Cogswell from the United States used resources from the Taiwan Christian Service (TCS) to help indigenous people from Wutai, Sandimen, and Majia Townships relocate to Ailiao to cultivate land. In the 56th year of the Republic (1967), following a resolution passed at a village assembly meeting, it was renamed 'Sanhe Village'. Sanhe Village actually comprises three sub-villages: the Northern Village (Yuquan Community, inhabited by the Paiwan people), the Central Village (Sanhe Community, inhabited by the Paiwan people), and the Southern Village (Meiyuan Community, home to both Paiwan and Rukai people).
