Snake Head Mountain is located in Maolin District at the 12-kilometer mark of Highway 132 and can be seen on the way to Dona Village. It is named for its striking resemblance to a hundred-pacer snake coiled along the Zhuokou River. Snake Head Mountain is a typical meander topography. Originally an isolated hill formed by river erosion, it stands opposite Dragon Head Mountain, with the two formations facing each other from opposite sides. The Hundred-Pacer Snake Head Mountain is also regarded as a sacred mountain protecting the local people and is one of the most famous attractions in the Maolin area.
