Eighteen Luohan Mountain

Eighteen Luohan Mountain is located in Liugui District, approximately at the 5K mark of Provincial Highway 27A. It is known as one of Taiwan's "Three Great Flame Mountains" along with Huoyan Mountain in Miaoli and Jiujiu Peaks in Nantou. Eighteen Luohan Mountain is composed of conglomerate rock formations. Due to uneven cementation between the gravels, it is easily eroded and exposed by rainwater. From a distance, dozens of towering peaks resemble arhats (Luohan) standing in various postures and expressions, hence its name. It is also known as 'Taiwan's Little Guilin.' Common special landforms in this area include isolated peaks, half-sided mountains, steep cliffs, U-shaped valleys, canyons, meanders, dendritic drainage patterns, and dry streambeds, making it a rare natural geography classroom.
