Mazhuhu Trail

Mazhuhu (麻竹湖) is located in the central part of Gongxing Village. It was named for its low-lying terrain and the abundant cultivation of Ma Bamboo (麻竹) in earlier times ("hu" means "depression" or "hollow" in Taiwanese Hokkien). In the past, Ma Bamboo was used as a material for papermaking and crafting bamboo rafts. However, as the demand for Ma Bamboo declined, Gui Bamboo (桂竹) is now primarily cultivated, serving as one of the area's important economic crops.
