Three Generations of Trees and Elephant Trunk Tree

After the first generation of trees fell, the clearings created by their trunks allowed more sunlight to penetrate. Lying horizontally on the ground, and given the climate of the misty forest zone, moss could grow on their surfaces, keeping them moist. These factors made it easier for seeds that fell on the dead cypress trunks to germinate, thus producing the second generation. The second generation grew astride the first. After several centuries, they also faced the fate of being felled. Subsequently, the seeds of the third generation grew from the second-generation trees. This phenomenon of forest growth, where trees decay and then flourish again, has formed their current appearance.
