Earth God Temple

Fude Temple is the spiritual center of the Dingbenzi settlement, nicknamed 'Taiwan's Dumbest Earth God Temple' due to its place name. There are no deity statues inside; only a stone tablet engraved with 'Fude Zheng Shen' (the Earth God's formal title), indicating its ancient origins. Its Teochew-style octagonal columns and the 'Huatai' (fertilizing mound) behind the temple, shaped like a Grand Tutor's chair (symbolizing nurturing and procreation), reveal the Hakka ancestry of the early settlers. Although small, the temple is carved and assembled from six large, integrated stones, and the design of its rain patio is a classic example among Earth God temples. This Earth God Temple, built entirely of stone, is precisely why Dingbenzi is also known as the 'Stone Settlement'.
