Mount Ogasawara (One of the New Eight Sceneries)

Mount Ogasawara is located within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, with an elevation of 2,488 meters. It was originally named 'Mount Banzai' (萬歲山). In October 1904, the survey team of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office first explored this area. To commemorate the contributions of Ogasawara Fujiro, who was a member of the survey team and the head of Chiayi Prefecture at the time, this place was specially named 'Mount Ogasawara'.
