The Wufeng Lin Family Mansion belongs to a family historically renowned in Taiwan, listed as one of the "Five Great Families." They originated in Wufeng, Taichung (formerly known as A-chao-wu). Their ancestors came from Pinghe County, Zhangzhou, Fujian, and crossed the sea to Taiwan as early as the Qianlong Emperor's reign during the Qing Dynasty. By assisting in quelling the Taiping Rebellion, the Dai Chao-chun Incident, and the Sino-French War, they not only obtained the honor of "Junior Guardian of the Crown Prince" but also controlled the very important camphor monopoly rights and military power at the time, becoming one of the most influential gentry families in Qing Dynasty Taiwan.
