Lishan Village is located at an altitude of 1800 meters in the mountains, belonging to Heping District, Taichung City, and is the most remote village in the city. It is named for its abundant production of high-quality temperate fruits – pears and apples. Raka was Lishan's earliest place name, which was once changed to Taoyuan after the Retrocession of Taiwan, and was also the former name of Slamaw (Lishan). In 1960 (Minguo 49), after the Central Cross-Island Highway was opened, farms introduced pears, and apples were extensively promoted for cultivation. It was then renamed Lishan due to the renown of its pears.
