Shibi, in the Atayal language, means 'cliff'. It earned its name due to the natural beauty of its unique rock formations and steep cliffs, as the geological layers are a mix of sandstone and shale, and the river valley has carved canyons along the softer shale layers. Due to severe damage from a typhoon, and for safety considerations, residents gradually relocated to Donghe Village. It is a small Atayal tribe village. Famous tourist attractions include: Bilin River Grand Waterfall, Shimen Gorge, and Luola Gorge. Visitors standing just a few meters from the waterfalls can feel the rushing mist and hear the thunderous roar, making for a truly magnificent experience.
