Penglai Village

Formerly known as Hongmaoguan, named after the Dutch who once resided here. After Taiwan's retrocession, it was renamed Penglai, merging the lowland settlement with nearby indigenous tribes to form Penglai Village. It has since become a community where Hakka and Saisiyat ethnic groups blend, rich in unique cultural features. Due to its concentrated population and sweet water quality, the village is home to numerous grocery stores, trout farms, cafes, restaurants, and guesthouses. The traditional rituals of the Saisiyat people—Pas-ta'ai, the Prayer to Heaven Ceremony, and the Ancestral Spirit Ceremony—along with the Hakka Three Mountain Kings Temple Fair activities, all possess rich folk characteristics.
