Ershui Station

The development and prosperity of Ershui Township are inextricably linked with trains. During the Japanese colonial period, three types of railways—the Longitudinal Railway, the Jiji Line Railway, and the Taiwan Sugar Railway—converged within this single township, a feature likely unique to Ershui. Therefore, the people of Ershui have an inseparable fondness for traditional old-fashioned trains. The Jiji Line Railway was built in the early Republic of China 19 (1930) to transport construction materials for the Sun Moon Lake Hydropower Plant. Afterward, it also played an indispensable role in transporting agricultural products along its route. However, due to the development and convenience of highways, its operational focus has now shifted primarily to tourism and recreation.
