Old Camphor Mother and Daughter Trees

As you enter Nantou County along County Road 139, you can spot a towering camphor tree from afar – that is the Old Camphor Mother and Daughter Trees. Standing 25 meters tall with a canopy spread of approximately 500 square meters, the Old Camphor Mother and Daughter Trees are actually composed of an old camphor tree over 300 years old and a young Elaeocarpus tree. They are named for the intertwined appearance of the two trees, resembling a mother and daughter.
