Visitor Essentials

Located in Huatan Township, Changhua County, Hushan Rock Recreation Area boasts not only unique natural scenery, but also the bustling "Hushan Rock Temple" as a popular attraction. Hushan Rock Temple, founded in the 12th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1747 AD), is dedicated to Guanyin (Bodhisattva of Compassion). It is a county-designated historic site and was once known as one of the "Three Rocks" and two temples in central Taiwan. The two ancient banyan trees in front of the temple are over two hundred years old, with lush foliage, making them ideal for shade and rest. In a nearby cave, Tiger Lord (Huye) is enshrined. Unlike most temples which have only one Tiger Lord, here there is a whole family of large and small Tiger Lords. Before worshipping, you can exchange money with the Tiger Lords, trading a 10 or 50 New Taiwan Dollar coin for two to eight 1 New Taiwan Dollar coins. It is said that this can turn small money into big money!
