Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area

The Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area is situated on an alluvial terrace where the Jiabao Stream merges with the Shiwen Stream. During the Japanese colonial period, it served as a logging site and was recognized as one of Taiwan's three major logging areas, alongside Taipingshan in Yilan and Alishan in Chiayi, primarily targeting cypress, fragrant cedar, and hemlock. After logging operations ceased in the 1980s, it gradually transformed into a recreational and tourist destination. The park boasts rich ecology and beautiful forest scenery. In addition to a variety of hiking trails, it offers waterside facilities, forest classrooms, and waterfall viewing platforms, making it an ideal spot for the whole family to enjoy a forest bath together.
