Haihui Nunnery

Haihui Nunnery, built in the 4th year of Japan's Showa era (1928 AD), is dedicated to the Western Pure Land Trinity (Amitābha Buddha, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, and Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva), as well as Sakyamuni Buddha. In front of the nunnery are several large osmanthus trees with lush, dense foliage. Wafts of osmanthus fragrance drift with the wind, making one feel as if they are in an immortal realm. The nunnery is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with a valley in front. From here, one can overlook or gaze at Hsinchu City and the Xiangshan-Zhunan coast, where fishing lights twinkle, creating a sense of tranquility and detachment from the mundane world.
