Baguashan Tribe

In Penglai Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, there is a Saisiyat tribe called Baguashan Tribe. It is now a tribal-themed homestay resort, named 'Kao'oan Cultural Village'. This area is home to eight mountains, and 'Baguashan' is derived from the Japanese homonym for 'eight mountains'. The Saisiyat people, however, call this place 'Kao'oan', which means 'the land where red bark trees grow'. Here, one can experience authentic Saisiyat culture through traditional indigenous architecture, farming, cuisine, and other lifestyles. The village is nestled amidst mountains and forests, offering many beautiful natural landscapes throughout the area.
