Toushe Reservoir Ecological Trail

The Toushe Reservoir Ecological Trail, located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, is Taiwan's smallest reservoir encircling trail, just about a 10-minute drive from Sun Moon Lake. The entire lakeside trail is approximately 1300 meters long, taking about 30 minutes to complete a circuit. The path is flat and easy to walk, making it ideal for families with children and elderly visitors. The trail is shaded by trees, providing a serene and pleasant environment. Toushe Reservoir was built in 1978, with its main water sources being Dashiwan Stream and seepage from Sun Moon Lake. Besides its irrigation function, in recent years, it has also become a popular destination for ecological conservation and leisure tourism. The trail area boasts rich biodiversity, with ginger lilies blooming along the path. In spring and summer, their fragrant aroma fills the air, and the babbling streams offer visitors a comfortable natural experience. In the middle section of the trail is the 65-meter-long Shanlongkeng Suspension Bridge, connecting the east and west banks of the reservoir. From the bridge, visitors can overlook the reservoir's emerald green waters and the reflection of the picturesque green mountains, a truly scenic view. The area around the reservoir is home to a variety of aquatic plants and amphibians. April to May is the best time for firefly viewing each year, when fireflies twinkle at dusk, creating a magical atmosphere and attracting many ecological enthusiasts. To maintain water quality and ecology, fishing and releasing fish are prohibited in Toushe Reservoir. Visitors are kindly asked to comply with these regulations.
