Huaji Manmo Stone Stele

From the Taiwan Endemic Species Research Institute, follow the small road on the east side of the Conservation Center. It takes approximately 5-8 minutes by car to reach the 'Huaji Manmo Stele'. In the spring of the 12th year of Guangxu (1886), the four characters 'Huaji Manmo' were inscribed on a massive rock, and later generations repainted them with red lacquer. Besides these four main characters, the stele also clearly states: 'By imperial order, Chen Fangbo, Acting Taiwan-Penghu Military and Defense Commissioner, established this site for pacifying aboriginals and opening up land for cultivation.' The Huaji Manmo Stele and the Kaipi Honghuang Stele are both national historical monuments, serving as evidence of land reclamation during the Qing Dynasty. Although it is remotely located and a bit difficult to find, the scenery along the way is beautiful and suitable for a stroll. Visitors can also make a detour to Mingxin Academy for a cultural tour.
