Crescent Bay is located on the southern side of Sun Moon Lake, a tranquil and picturesque bay within the Moon Lake area of Sun Moon Lake. Its waters are wide and clear, and because no boats operate here, the lake surface remains calm and mirror-like, earning it a reputation as one of Sun Moon Lake's hidden gems. A cycling path runs along Crescent Bay, offering riders views of rich ecosystems and diverse forests, as well as distant glimpses of Ci'en Pagoda, creating a delightful scenery. Crescent Bay's expansive waters make it the largest area among all open non-motorized water recreation zones in Sun Moon Lake, ideal for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), offering different atmospheres from dawn's sunrise to sunset. Every summer, Crescent Bay also hosts the National Rowing Championships, where vibrant water activities attract numerous sports enthusiasts and tourists to watch and participate. This location is also home to Toushe Dam, one of the crucial water-retaining dams in Sun Moon Lake's hydroelectric power system. Toushe Dam, along with Shuishe Dam, jointly intercepts water sources, transforming Sun Moon Lake from a natural lake into a reservoir and significantly expanding its surface area. The dam's structure is stable, and its surrounding environment is naturally beautiful, making it an excellent spot for visitors to stroll and enjoy the scenery.
