Hidden among the trees on the mountainside of Hanbi Peninsula, the Sun Moon Lake Jesus Chapel's Romanesque architecture, with its yellow walls and white pillars, embodies classical elegance. From the chapel, visitors can enjoy an unobstructed panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. It was built in 1971 by former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife for their worship and prayer during their visits to Sun Moon Lake. After the 921 earthquake caused cracks and tilting in the surrounding living quarters and dormitories, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration renovated it in 2003 and opened it to visitors. It has since become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists to take wedding photos. In 2017, the Jesus Chapel was leased to a private company for operation and management. With a renewed professional aesthetic for weddings and wedding photography, the traditionally charming Jesus Chapel has unveiled its mysterious veil, and with its new look, it now orchestrates dreamlike lakeside journeys for happy travelers from both Taiwan and abroad.
