Tianxing Kiln Pottery Village is located in Fenglin Lane, Jiji Township, Nantou, near the famous Jiji Green Tunnel. Established in 1955, it is one of Taiwan's oldest continuously operating snake kilns. Tianxing Kiln started by firing coarse pottery using traditional snake kilns. As times evolved, it gradually transformed into a diversified park combining pottery culture and tourism, becoming an important cultural and tourist attraction in the Jiji area. The park spans approximately 2000 ping (about 6600 square meters). In addition to preserving a complete old snake kiln, it features exhibitions of pottery artifacts and tools, allowing visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of Taiwanese pottery. Tianxing Kiln actively promotes pottery culture, offering pottery classes where families and visitors of all ages can enjoy DIY pottery-making. Professional instructors guide participants through simple pottery techniques, enabling every visitor to create their own unique pottery piece. Tianxing Kiln's works combine tradition with innovation, using natural and eco-friendly materials. Examples include the “Puzhen Ware” series and the “Camphor Scent” series, inspired by the old camphor trees of the Jiji Green Tunnel, showcasing rich cultural connotations and artistic quality. The park also features a pottery sales area, offering tea sets, tableware, flower vases, and daily pottery ornaments, suitable for souvenirs or gifts. Tianxing Kiln has endured the 921 earthquake and numerous challenges, but under the leadership of third-generation kiln owner Lin Qing-he, it successfully transformed into a pottery village combining cultural preservation with tourist experience, becoming a must-visit attraction for Jiji cultural tourism. Besides admiring pottery works, visitors can also experience the charm of traditional craftsmanship and creative vitality amidst the lush green environment.
