The Qinglong Mountain Trail is one of the hiking routes along Sun Moon Lake. The trail starts at Xuanguang Temple and ends near Ci'en Pagoda. It is approximately 850 meters long, gently ascends along the terrain, and has a mild slope, making it suitable for visitors of all ages, including seniors and children. A leisurely stroll of about 20 to 30 minutes is enough to complete it. This trail connects three well-known local temples, including Xuanguang Temple and Xuanzang Temple. Because it was historically a route for pilgrims traveling to Xuanzang Temple for worship, it is also known as the Pilgrim's Trail. The trail incorporates rich Buddhist cultural elements, featuring moss sculpture art such as mountain gates, sutras, young monks, and Heart Sutra planters. Utilizing Sun Moon Lake's unique high-temperature and high-humidity climate, these elements imbue the trail with a religious atmosphere and artistic beauty. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The plaza in front of Xuanguang Temple offers an excellent panoramic view, where visitors can gaze upon Lalu Island, Hanbi Peninsula, and Shuishe Pier, taking in the picturesque lake and mountain views and experiencing the captivating charm of Sun Moon Lake. The area around the trail is lush with greenery and abundant fragrant flowering plants, such as banana shrub, magnolia figo, jasmine, and orange jasmine. Walking along it, visitors can not only enjoy the natural phytoncides but also listen to bird song, experiencing a serene and leisurely pilgrimage. The Qinglong Mountain Trail is conveniently accessible. Visitors can enter from either Xuanguang Temple or Xuanzang Temple, both of which have parking facilities.
