Puli Distillery is a historic and representative distillery in Taiwan, established in 1917 (Taisho Year 6 during the Japanese colonial period). Local gentry in Puli initiated the formation of "Puli Sake Brewery Co., Ltd.," leveraging Puli's unique water quality, climate, and environment to begin producing products such as sake, rice wine, and glutinous rice wine, becoming an important brewing base in central Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period, Puli Distillery was nationalized by the Japanese government in 1922, becoming a branch of the "Taiwan Governor-General's Office Monopoly Bureau Puli Branch Office" and was renamed "Puli Alcohol Factory." It continued to produce various alcoholic products such as Fulu Sake, Wanshou Wine, and various types of rice wine. After the war, it was taken over by the Taiwan Provincial Government and established as the "Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau Taichung Winery Puli Branch." In the 1960s, it was officially named "Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau Puli Distillery." It gradually expanded its production scale and launched the famous "Ailan Baijiu" in the 1980s, becoming an important representative of Taiwanese Shaoxing wine. Puli Distillery operates under the philosophy of "Cultural Brewing, Artistic Tourism," combining traditional brewing craftsmanship with tourist experiences. It houses a Wine Culture Museum, showcasing a rich history of wine culture, and offers free guided tours to help visitors understand the brewing process from a single grain of rice to a drop of wine. The distillery also offers DIY activities where visitors can personally experience the joy of winemaking and taste representative products like "Zhuangyuan Hong" and "Nü'er Hong" Shaoxing wines, paired with Shaoxing wine-flavored delicacies, to enjoy a deep cultural journey. Puli Distillery's products are of excellent quality, having been designated as the official wine for presidential banquets and exported to over 30 countries worldwide, with a brand image deeply rooted in people's hearts. Furthermore, the distillery actively promotes environmental management and corporate transformation, having obtained ISO quality and environmental management certifications, demonstrating its commitment to modernized operations and sustainable development.
