Jiji Railway Station

During the period when train services are suspended between Zhuoshui and Checheng stations, shuttle buses will be provided, causing inconvenience to passengers. The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) sincerely apologizes for this. The shuttle bus schedule is the same as the train schedule. For any questions regarding the Jiji Line, please contact the TRA. The section between Zhuoshui and Jiji stations is expected to resume operation in July-August 2026, with the entire line projected to be fully operational by the end of 2026. Jiji Railway Station, built in 1933, is an old station constructed with cypress wood. It can be considered a landmark of Jiji Township and is the most well-known station on the Jiji Railway Line. It was damaged during the 921 earthquake, but after reconstruction, the station still retains its Japanese-style wooden exterior and is one of the few remaining stations from the Japanese colonial era. In its early days, the Jiji Line primarily transported engineering materials for the construction of power plants. Later, with local prosperity, the Jiji Line also took on the function of transporting passengers, agricultural products, timber, and other goods along the route. It is a living historical site that bears witness to the economic value of railway branch lines, standing out remarkably among nostalgic railways! In 1994, with the joint efforts of the then-Railway Bureau and the township office, the Jiji Line's small trains were transformed into scenic painted tourist trains. On holidays, tourists flock to the area, allowing Jiji to recapture its former glory. Visiting Jiji Railway Station, one can not only experience railway culture and admire the beautiful scenery along the way but also feel the resilience of the local residents, encapsulated by the Taiwanese saying "Even with broken bones, we become stronger" (打斷手骨顛倒勇). Diagonally opposite the station, there is a decommissioned steam locomotive, serving as a testament to the splendid history of the Jiji Line's small trains. Tourists enjoy taking photos here as a souvenir of their visit. Opening hours: The platform is open 24 hours a day. The lobby and ticket windows are open from 08:00 to 17:00.
