Xingling Temple

Built in 1899 (13 years before the establishment of the Republic of China), Xingling Temple originated from a Puli resident's personal devotion. To help his mother overcome drug addiction, he enshrined Guan Sheng Di Jun (Emperor Guan) at home. After his mother successfully quit drugs through the deity's power, many people began to visit. Subsequently, a temple was built to house the deity, initially named "Gaihua Hall" (Hall of Transformation). It was later renamed "Xinghua Temple" (Awakening Transformation Temple), and finally "Xingling Temple" during its last reconstruction. At the temple's entrance stands a pair of stone lions, whose majestic and righteous gazes are truly awe-inspiring. The temple courtyard boasts ancient charm with its small bridges, flowing water, and garden pavilions. Situated at a high elevation, the temple offers a commanding view and is complemented by distant mountains, adding significantly to its beauty and making it a worthwhile visit.
