Biodiversity Research Institute Conservation Education Center

Jiji Township is home to a true treasure: the Biodiversity Research Institute. To promote local ecological education in Taiwan, the Institute established a Conservation Education Center. This center features static displays and exhibition areas that delve into Taiwan's ecosystems, its unique flora and fauna, and environmental conservation challenges. It also periodically hosts various themed exhibitions. Knowledgeable interpreters are available to guide visitors, helping them grasp conservation concepts in an accessible manner. In addition, the center provides services such as ecological film screenings, computer multimedia, and a collection of conservation books and resources, making it one of Taiwan's key locations for conservation education. Outside the main building, visitors can explore a vast ecological education park, home to a diverse array of plants, and a dedicated butterfly garden. The ecological education park is deliberately designed to mimic a forest environment, attracting various birds and insects to inhabit it. Within the park, there's also an aquatic plant ecological pond. If you're tired from walking, you can relax in a pavilion and watch groups of mallards gracefully swim, creating a feeling of being deep within a jungle. This place offers not only intellectual enrichment but also a chance to soothe your mind and body. Furthermore, the conservation center operates a wildlife emergency rescue station, which has successfully rescued over 3,000 wild animals since the year 2000. The education park sometimes houses raptors undergoing rehabilitation. Take a stroll along the ecological trail, and you might even get the chance to greet these valuable and often elusive birds up close!
