The Songbaolun Trail is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, between the Wenwu Temple and Peacock Garden at Sun Moon Lake. This natural trail, approximately 600 meters long, combines rich historical and cultural significance with natural ecological landscapes. It was once an ancient path used by the ancestors of the Thao people to travel to and from Puli to "collect tribute." It also served as an important site where the chiefs of the Yuan clan held ancestral spirit rituals, thus preserving strong indigenous cultural significance. Before Sun Moon Lake was dammed, this section of the trail was a crucial "Salt-Carrying Ancient Trail," used by tribal people to carry salt on their shoulders. A statue of a salt carrier is erected near the lake along the trail, symbolizing this historical memory. The path leading towards Sun Moon Lake is densely forested and rich in biodiversity. Visitors can enjoy native plants and birds along the winding forest path and admire the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake, including its mountains and waters, from the observation deck.
