Zhongzhu Harbor

The main gateway to Dongyin Township. Dongyin is the northernmost island in the Matsu Archipelago and also the closest to Taiwan. It stands isolated in the East China Sea, boasting incredibly charming landscapes and geological features; it would be no exaggeration to praise its coastline as a national treasure. Zhongzhu Harbor serves as the primary entrance and exit to Dongyin Island. As a large ship approaches the harbor, standing on the deck, you can clearly see the three large red characters '中柱港' (Zhongzhu Harbor) carved into the rock face, signaling the imminent end of your long journey. Upon disembarking, the prominent statue of the 'Dream Fish – Striped Beakfish' standing on the pier is one of the island's significant landmarks. Northeast of Zhongzhu Harbor, nestled on the hillside, are densely packed houses, forming Lehua Village and Zhongliu Village – the busiest areas in Dongyin with the most traditional Min-Dong style residences, and usually where visitors settle down and find food. The entire island of Dongyin is composed of granite, with beautiful sea-eroded cliffs, sea stacks, and sea caves scattered everywhere, often leaving visitors in awe. The coastal reefs are jagged, with high cliffs and deep waters. Furthermore, different high-value fish species approach the shore to feed throughout the four seasons, making fishing activities very popular. It has been recognized by Taiwanese anglers as a holy site for rock fishing.
