Juguang Visitor Center

Mazu's Juguang Township was originally called Baiken. The character "肯" (kěn) is a homophone for "dog" (犬) in the Fuzhou dialect, leading to the name Baiquan (White Dog). The two islands, with their mountain shapes resembling two small dogs lying on the sea, were thus named Dongquan Island (East Dog Island) and Xiquan Island (West Dog Island). In 1971, it was renamed Juguang Township, inspired by the historical phrase "Never Forget Ju" (毋忘在莒), and the islands became known as Dongju and Xiju. The Juguang Visitor Center is located on Dongju Island, next to Fuzheng Village. Its exterior, designed in the style of Mindong (Eastern Fujian) architecture, seamlessly integrates with the nearby lighthouse and stone houses, making it a highly distinctive building with the ambiance of a resort. Offering excellent views of both the sea and mountains, resting here and browsing travel information is a true pleasure. Inside, the visitor center features introductory videos and provides travel information and advice. Adjacent to it is the Fuzheng Blue Tears Inn, where visitors can relax and enjoy local specialties such as mussels and red vinasse chicken. If you visit Juguang, be sure not to miss this stop!
