Fushan Reflection Wall: A Symbol of Matsu's Wartime Spirit. If "Never Forget Ju" on Kinmen's Mount Taiwu serves as Kinmen's spiritual beacon, then "Pillow on Spear, Await Dawn" on Nangan's Fushan Reflection Wall undoubtedly embodies Matsu's wartime ethos. As the Taima Star and Taima Ferry gently sail into Matsu's Fuao Port, leaning against the mast and gazing from the sea, the four striking red characters "Pillow on Spear, Await Dawn" inevitably catch your eye, majestically perched on Nangan's Fuqing Ridge, grand and awe-inspiring. This reflection wall is situated within a park on a hilltop southwest of Fuao Village. It's a rectangular structure, two floors underground and five floors above ground. From afar, its red characters against a white background are highly conspicuous. The front of the reflection wall bears the inscription "Pillow on Spear, Await Dawn," while the back explains the origin of these four characters. To reach the Pillow on Spear, Await Dawn Memorial Park from Fuao Port, you'll first spot Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's bronze statue at the base of the park from a distance. Intertwining long staircases invite hiking enthusiasts to ascend, enjoying the sweeping sea views. If climbing stairs isn't preferred, you can drive by following the signs uphill to reach the park's observation deck. The viewing platform offers an expansive panorama; from this vantage point, you can overlook the entire Fuao Port and soak in the unique charm of Nangan's northern coastline.
