Simply beautiful where mountains meet the sea. The Luoshan Nature Trail, situated at the juncture of mountains and sea, is approximately 700 meters long. In its early days, it was a path frequently used by residents of Hou'ao for oyster harvesting and by anglers. Built along cliffs, it features quite steep stairs, with a round trip taking about 40 minutes. There are two observation decks along the way, and from the end point, you can gaze upon the Confucius statue in the sea. Due to the influence of monsoon winds, vegetation growth along the trail is limited. However, *Eurya emarginata* (concave-leaf eurya), a rare and protected species in Matsu, can be seen everywhere. Moreover, prolonged exposure to the northeastern monsoon winds from the sea has created a unique "wind-shearing effect," resulting in trees with elegant, bonsai-like forms, showcasing a rugged and robust beauty. Every year in April and May, wild lilies bloom profusely beneath the trees and alongside the trail, creating a breathtaking sight. Along the coast, a unique rock formation resembles the Sage Confucius, standing serenely in the sea, listening to the waves and gazing at the ocean, which is quite fascinating. The Luoshan Nature Trail is a versatile path offering opportunities for fitness, scenic views, wave watching, and rock fishing. The beauty of tranquil mountains and surging seas unfolds before your eyes, making it well worth a thorough experience and appreciation. Note: This area experiences strong winds and has rugged terrain; please pay extra attention to your personal safety.
