War and Peace Memorial Park Theme Museum

Moving memories from nearly half a century ago, a must-visit attraction for military enthusiasts. The War and Peace Memorial Park Theme Museum is situated within the War and Peace Memorial Park. On a clear day, visitors can even gaze out at the mainland coastline, creating a unique and interesting contrast with the tense atmosphere of wartime, thus aligning perfectly with the 'War and Peace' theme. The museum was officially inaugurated in 2010. During its opening, the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration invited the 'True Heroes of Beihai,' who had previously dug tunnels in Matsu, to revisit. To commemorate this, 'Wartime Memories — Old Matsu Films' was specially screened inside the museum. During the period of military administration, civilians were not allowed to possess cameras, and only the military could take photos and videos. Therefore, the visual records from this era are extremely precious, allowing viewers to revisit the real lives of both military personnel and civilians through these films, and to unveil the mysterious veil of wartime administration. The theme museum is centered around 'Moving Memories,' and is divided into exhibition areas such as 'Origin,' 'Chronology of Military Development,' 'Military Supplies Exhibition Area,' and 'Military-Civilian Culture.' Through texts and visuals, the nearly half-century of military administration in Matsu, and the years that the military and civilians jointly experienced, are vividly recreated within the museum, allowing visitors to imagine the arduous pioneering efforts of the wartime residents.
