Datan Wetland Ecological Park is located northeast of Dapeng Bay, adjacent to Provincial Highway 17, and forms the southern edge of Datan Community. Due to the low-lying terrain of this area, which is prone to flooding, it was planned as an ecological retention pond combined with an artificial wetland treatment system. During the rainy season, it serves a flood retention function. During the dry season, it treats domestic wastewater and aquaculture wastewater discharged from Datan Community, non-point source pollution from Provincial Highway 17, and some domestic wastewater from Dapeng Borough. The wetland park covers 6 hectares. The entire area includes an inlet on both the east and west sides, a sedimentation tank, a subsurface flow filter pond (with filtering media of waste bricks, concrete blocks, gravel, and oyster shells), a marsh zone, a shallow pond zone, an ecological island zone, a deep water zone, and an outlet. According to the classification of artificial wetlands for stormwater runoff, the Datan Wetland type falls between the extended detention type and the pocket type. The entire wetland layout process is as shown in the diagram. Bird species found in the wetland include Black-winged Stilt, Yellow Bittern, Cinnamon Bittern, Little Ringed Plover, Oriental Plover, Common Sandpiper, and Barred Buttonquail.
