Vase Rock

For most people, the first impression of Xiaoliuqiu is Vase Rock, located in front of Lingshan Temple. It stands majestically along the coast of Liuqiu Island, serving as a prominent landmark for ships sailing back and forth, earning it the nickname 'Guardian God of Xiaoliuqiu'. Vase Rock, approximately 9 meters tall, was formed when coastal coral reefs were uplifted by geological forces. Over time, prolonged erosion by seawater sculpted it into its distinctive 'large head, small body' shape. With plants growing on its top, it resembles a vase with flowers and plants, hence its name. As the sunlight and seasons change, Vase Rock continuously displays different facets of its charm, a myriad of graceful appearances and endless transformations.
