Dapeng Bay International Leisure Zone

Dapeng Bay was a military seaplane base during the Japanese colonial period, bearing historical traces of the Japanese Kamikaze Special Attack Units. Across different eras, from Biexing Port, Nanping Port, and Datun to its current name, Dapeng Bay, each name had its own unique meaning and significance. In 2004, after the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications outsourced the operation, development, and management of Dapeng Bay to private entities, Dapeng Bay International Development Co., Ltd., responsible for the overall development, named the entire development area the "Dapeng Bay International Leisure Zone," based on the unique development features and vision of Dapeng Bay. With its rich natural resources and historical heritage, Dapeng Bay's development plan spans three major themes of leisure and recreation: land, sea, and air. It boasts a vast hinterland, Taiwan's best marine environment base, and an aerial activity zone. These unique natural conditions make Dapeng Bay a one-of-a-kind wonderland in Taiwan. Currently, the park offers diverse tourist resources and experiential activities, including Taiwan's first legal ultralight aircraft flying club. It provides ultralight flight experiences for visitors, short-term flying courses for students, and license training. Having received approval from the Civil Aeronautics Administration, point-to-point flights are now possible. The ultralight flying experience is no longer limited to Dapeng Bay's airspace but extends to Pingtung Saijia Aviation Park. The round-trip journey is approximately 40 kilometers, allowing flying enthusiasts to fully enjoy the scenic mountains, rivers, and idyllic countryside along the way as they soar through the sky. The leisure zone also features a bay-circling bicycle center, offering bicycle rentals to explore the beautiful 12-kilometer-long bay-circling cycling path. Additionally, there are various rich and exciting water activities, including lake ecological tours, kayaking, windsurfing, hand-paddling boats, and other comprehensive activities. Dapeng Bay International Development Co. projects a total future investment exceeding NT$10.34 billion, with a development area surpassing 257 hectares. The construction of this scenic area will be carried out in phases. The first phase, with a total investment of over NT$2 billion, is currently underway with various construction projects, including Taiwan's first international G2 racetrack (a hot topic among racing enthusiasts), a Go-Kart track, an international tourist hotel, a themed shopping street, group camping areas, a cultural and historical museum, and more. Many other "firsts" in Taiwan will gradually be unveiled at Dapeng Bay.
