Visitor Essentials
The Zhongxing Outpost is located in Heping Village (known locally as Balayabay Village) in Luye Township. It is a high vantage point at the confluence of the Luye River and Beinan River, offering extremely vast views that overlook surrounding areas such as Dulan Mountain and Baizinan Mountain. During martial law, it served as a patrol post for the Luye River Bridge, situated between Luye Station and Shanli Station, to maintain the safety of railway transport. In 1978, due to the Taiwan Railways Administration's (TRA) widening project for the Taitung Line, Zhongxing Station was officially abandoned in 1982, and the Zhongxing Outpost was subsequently decommissioned. Today, it has become a favored spot for many railway enthusiasts to photograph trains, and a rest stop for cyclists riding the Luye Countryside Cycling Path.
