Liukou Hot Spring

Liukou Hot Spring is located in Haiduan Township, Taitung County, at the 179K mark of the Southern Cross-Island Highway. Travelers passing by will easily spot many tourists relaxing and soaking their feet, as well as local residents bringing simple tools to steam hot spring eggs. Liukou Hot Spring was actually discovered by road construction workers in the early days when the Southern Cross-Island Highway was being built. They noticed hot spring water gushing from the rock face, so they dug holes to draw out the water, using it for rest and relaxation after work. In 2008, after being renovated and reconstructed by the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration, it became the clean and comfortable Liukou Hot Spring pools.
