Hongye Little League Baseball Memorial Hall

Do you remember 1968, when the Hongye Little League Baseball team from Yanping Township, Taitung, defeated the then-world champion Wakayama team of Japan's Kansai Little League Baseball Federation? That victory not only brought widespread fame to Hongye Village, a remote Bunun settlement, but also ignited a nationwide baseball craze. Baseball teams of all levels sprang up like mushrooms, and the sport flourished, laying the foundation for Taiwan's future success as a baseball powerhouse. To commemorate the Hongye Little League team's significant place in Taiwan's baseball history, enthusiastic locals strongly advocated for the construction of the 'Hongye Little League Baseball Memorial Hall' within the campus of Hongye Elementary School. It was officially completed and opened to the public in 1992.
