Beiliao Recreation Area

The 'Kuibi Lianhui' (Kuibi Intertidal Pathway) at Beiliao Kuibi Mountain was one of Penghu's Old Eight Scenic Spots during the Qing Dynasty. Along the eastern coast below Kuibi Mountain, between it and the uninhabited islet 'Chiyu', an S-shaped gravel path, approximately 300 meters long, is exposed at low tide. In recent years, it has become a popular spot for tourists to enjoy water activities and eco-tourism. However, it has been observed that the tide rises very rapidly once the water reaches your feet, so it is crucial to accurately calculate the tides and shorten your stay to avoid danger. The origin of the name Kuibi Mountain: When viewed from the sea, the mountain's contours strongly resemble a turtle lying on the water, hence it was originally called 'Turtle Mountain' (龜鼈山).
