Visitor Essentials
Penghu experiences harsh winters with frequent strong gales. Therefore, residents often set up protective objects, such as Shigandang (stone steles) or stone pagodas, to suppress the wind and ward off malevolent forces. Suogang has a stone pagoda on both its north and south sides. The north pagoda is called the Zi Pagoda, and the south pagoda is called the Wu Pagoda, formally known collectively as the Zi-Wu Precious Pagodas. They are Penghu's most magnificent wind-suppressing pagodas.
