Shih Ancestral Shrine

The Shih Ancestral Shrine was originally known as General Shi Temple. According to the 'Stele Inscription of General Shi Temple', it can be confirmed that this shrine was a 'shengci' (a memorial shrine built for a living person) erected by Shi Lang after he pacified Taiwan and was granted the title Marquis of Jinghai. Its construction was no later than the 35th year of the Kangxi reign (1696). During the Daoguang era, naval officers and soldiers who died in the line of duty were also enshrined, so it was no longer exclusively known as General Shi Temple, but was renamed Shih Ancestral Shrine.
