Jibei Sand Spit

When mentioning Jibei Island, many people might associate it with the famous idol drama 'At the Dolphin Bay'. However, Jibei Island is also renowned for the Jibei Sand Spit, located in its southwestern part. A sand spit (also known as a sand bar or tombolo) is a type of marine accumulation landform. Due to the pushing action of ocean currents, coral fragments and shell sand accumulate, forming various such landforms. The southwestern beach extends southeast from Xikan Mountain, and at its end, a sand spit extends into the sea. The Jibei Sand Spit is approximately 800 meters long and 200 meters wide. Since the direction of coastal currents changes with seasonal winds, the shape and size of the sand spit also vary, resembling a natural phenomenon of a 'wagging tail'. The Jibei Sand Spit is covered with golden-yellow sand, which is why it's also called the 'Golden Sand Spit'. Visitors can enjoy water activities here and also admire the sunrise and sunset.
