Niumuping

Why is this large expanse of grassland called Niumuping? Just look towards the sea, and you'll know! Because there's a large, cow-shaped rock floating on the sea near the shore, this vast grassland on the cliff top was thus named Niumuping. Niumuping's coast not only features bay topography but also wave-cut platforms. Furthermore, the volcanic breccia at Niumuping not only has considerable thickness but also displays stratification and exhibits collapse structures. The lava layers may have erupted at different times, leading to the speculation that the Niumuping area might be an ancient volcanic crater, one of the nine ancient volcanic craters in the Penghu Archipelago.
