Fisherman's Island Visitor Center

Xiyu (West Islet) is named for its location on the west side of Penghu Main Island. Its alternative name is 'Fisherman's Island' because the fishery resources in the Taiwan Strait have been extremely rich since ancient times, with many fishing boats operating in the waters west of Xiyu. Therefore, Fisherman's Island was also once used by Europeans as a general term for the Penghu Archipelago.
