Longmen Village Stone Pagoda

Longmen Houwan Beach, flanked by Dongbitou and Longgang Mountain, forms a natural hollow. This geographical feature was believed to cause ocean waves to directly rush into the village, bringing negative 'Sha Qi' (malevolent energy) that adversely affected residents. Therefore, a pagoda was built to control the water and neutralize this water-related malevolent energy. Legend has it that during the pagoda's consecration, live chickens were sacrificed and placed at its base. At that time, the top of the stone pagoda had no ornaments, providing a direct view to the bottom. The older generation in the village recalls that as children, they would often try to peek through the pagoda's crevices when playing nearby, curious to see if anything was truly inside, finding it quite amusing. Furthermore, the eight extended 'legs' at the pagoda's base symbolize the stabilization of all eight directions, leading to its alternative name, the 'Bagua Pagoda'.
