Since ancient times, the Grandfather Tower, Grandmother Tower, and Tower City have protected the villagers of Neian from the perils of their natural geographical environment. According to ancient folklore, hidden reefs in the Beigang Sea, commonly known as "Hailai Reef," along with the "Horseshoe Crab Tail" to the north of the reef, resembled arrows pointing directly at the Neian settlement, causing the villagers to frequently suffer from disasters. Therefore, the Grandfather Tower and Grandmother Tower were built, and a connecting wall was constructed to ward off evil. At that time, the connecting wall and the towers were almost the same height. A woman from the prominent Lü clan of the village became pregnant and declared, "If I give birth to a boy, I will name him 'Ta' (Tower) in commemoration." As she wished, she gave birth to a boy, and he was named "Ta" (Tower), a tradition that has continued to this day.
