Anzhai Yuzi Spire

The Anzhai waters are a popular spot for intertidal zone activities and rock fishing, and also a vital route connecting Magong to Baisha and Xiyu. With Zhou Wang Temple as its primary religious center, early Penghu faced infertile land. To enrich the soil and ensure bountiful harvests, the ancestors would transport sea sand for composting. On the sandy terrain, locally known as 'Yuzaijiao,' they erected a stone spire to help discern the tides, making it easier to collect sand from the sea. For many years, this spire has stood unwavering, protecting the local residents. Legend has it that if a stone fell from the spire, it signified a death in the village, an ominous sign. Consequently, to reinforce the spire, it was filled with cement around 1973 (the 62nd year of the Minguo calendar), following the instructions of Lord Zhou Wang.
