In the early days, before the cross-sea bridge was built, the geographical area between Tongliang and Xiyu was commonly known as 'Roaring Gate.' It appeared as if the seawater would rush directly into the village. Furthermore, the western end of Chongguang Village, known as Caozaiwei, was formerly part of Magong's First Public Cemetery. Therefore, Lord Chifu Wangye of Weiling Temple instructed that a pagoda be built to remedy these geographical deficiencies, naming it 'Lingxiao Pagoda.' The gourd at the top of the pagoda faces all directions and, together with the 'Zhangshui God Stele' situated between Sun Pond and Moon Pond, collectively safeguards the entire village.
